ON KROC
3:00
to 7:00 is a great time to be on KROC. The workday is
almost over. People call to play contests, make requests,
talk music, Some callers are weird. I get a wave
of prank calls during the school bus rush between 3:00
and 3:30. Jubilation is high right after the school
bell rings. School buss calls are so noisy, sometimes
they can't even hear me on their phone. I don't know
how school bus drivers do it. They must have nerves
of steel.
Another
wave of jubilation hits at 5:00. Adults don't
get a bell at work, so I play the 5 O'clock Whistle.
I like to play something fun right at 5:00, an old forgotten
"one hit wonder", or "blast from the past". Bear with
me while I "flash back". Then it's time for The
KROC Drive @ 5 Music Challenge. Play along and win!
If
there's ever any traffic issues, weather problems or
cancellations, I'll pass that information along, too.
It's
a pleasure working on KROC. It's funny how people call
with the strangest questions, like I'm some sort of
therapist, or bartender serving up advice. What do I
know? I just play songs on the radio. I'm sure someone
listening will have the answer.
